Tall Pine Council has two beautiful outdoor facilities
available for use by your Scouting Unit. Camp Holaka is
located near Lapeer Michigan and Camp Tapico is near Kalkaska
Michigan. Both of these camps are open year round and
offer many facilities and camping areas, along with numerous
activities for your unit to use and promote the "OUTING
" in Scouting. Contact the Tall Pine Council Service
Center for details on availbility, program opportuiites,

290 acres of rolling woodlands and trails, offers four
cabins and a lodge for indoor camping and 12 campsites
for tent camping. This makes it a great place to take
your unit camping in the local area. The camp also features
a natural fire bowl, picnic pavilion and chapel area that
make great locations for Troop Courts of Honor, Pack Crossover
Ceremonies and family picnics. In the winter months scouts
can enjoy cross county skiing, sledding and ice fishing
on Horton Lake. While the cabins feature outdoor facilities,
indoor facilities and showers are available at the administration
lodge. Camp Holaka also has a C.O.P.E. course to add to
the excitement of the great outdoors.
A written request with a brief explanation
for the cancellation must be sent to the Tall Pine Council
Service Center. The request should be received by the
Service Center at least 3 weeks prior to the camp, activity,
or event start date. A 10 percent (minimum $5.00) administration
fee will be withheld from the refund. Refund requests
received after the camp, activity, or event will be
denied (extentuating circumstances may be the only exception).
Transferring fees from one person to another is permissible
before the event. The Tall Pine Council should be notified
in writing of all transfers. This cancellation / refund
policy was effective January 1, 1998, and supercedes
any prior cancellation / refund policy of the Tall Pine
Council, BSA.

Camp Tapico is located off of M-72 between Grayling and Kalkaska
, Michigan, is comprised of over 1200 acres of Woodlands.
It's centerpiece is beautiful Grass Lake. A new Troop
Cabin will accommodate 36 persons with modern facilities.
The Administration building will hold up to 75 persons.
Three other smaller cabins are also available along with
16 tent camping sites. Canoes are available for rent to
travel the many beautiful rivers in Northern Lower Michigan.
Snow shoe and cross country ski equipment are also available
for rent during the winter months. Camp Tapico is a great
place to get away to and avoid the hustle and bustle of
urban sprawl.

Tree Houses--each duplex will house 8 people (4 per
side). Underneath is a pavillion area with picnic tables.
There is electricity, but no heat or water. Currently
there are eight duplex units available to rent.
To take advantage of these great Camps,
contact the ProgramDepartment at the Tall Pine Council
Service Center.Remember to follow Tall Pine Council guidlines
and those as they are outlined in The Guide to Safe Scouting
booklet when taking your youth camping. New for Cub Scouting
this fall is Baloo Training for adult Cub Scout Leaders.
Each unit will have to have someone attend this outdoor
camping course to be certified in order for your pack
to do overnight camping in the future.
