ROUNDTABLE NOTE: THE APRIL ROUNDTABLE DATE FOR THE
NORWEGEN PINE DISTRICT HAS BEEN CHANGED TO APRIL 16, 2009.
Rename the NEW District
We need a new name for our new beginning
and unity as one. Norwegen Pine and Baden Powell are
no longer districts. Help us move forward with a new
name, together as one!
A $50 Scout Bucks cash prize will be awarded
to the youth Scout with the best district name. (You
must be 18 or under to win.)
Deadline is Janaury 15, 2009 at
the Roundtable.
The name will be chosen by February’s
Roundtable. If enough names are submitted, we will ask
for a vote at the February Roundtable. Suggested names
can include, local people of importance, places or things
that may or may not be related to Scouting.
All submissions should include name, phone
number and unit number.
Norwegen Pine Super Scouter Award
- Do you have an outstanding adult in your Troop, Pack
or Crew?
- Have they contributed an extra amount of work, time,
effort or ideas?
- Are you and /or the boys proud of what that person
has accomplished?
NOW is the time to nominate that person for the Norwegen
Pine, Super Scouter Awards!

February 5, 2009, 6:00 pm located at the Flushing United
Methodist Church for the election of District Committee
Members.
All registered charter representatives, and Norwegen
Pine district committee members are invited to participate.

Snow Challenge
Date: February 27 &
28, March 1, 2009
Location: Camp Tapico
Fee: $32 per person (inside)
$22 per person (outside)
Early payment deadline is Friday, February 13th. The
fee increases by $5.00 per person after this date.
Registration opens December 15.
Program includes: skiing, shooting sports, ice fishing,
snow shoes, games, auction, and great food!

Norwegen Pine District Dinner
Saturday, March 7, 2009
To be awarded: The District Award of Merit.

Feed the Hungry
This is an event conducted on March 21st in partnership
with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Food
Bank of Eastern Michigan. The event involves cooking
breakfast and serving breakfast to the homeless in downtown
Flint.
If your unit is interested in participating,
send an e-mail to Mark Palmer at mpalmer@kettering.edu.
We need approximately 30 Boy Scouts and leaders
from 7:00 am to 11:00 am as cooks and 15 Cub Scouts
and leaders from 8:30 am to 11:00 am as servers.
Troops participating should bring dining flys, cooking
stoves, and griddles to assist in cooking. This is the
kick-off event to our Scouting for Food drive.
Mark your calendar and plan to participate
in the annual Scouting for Food drive.
Scouting for Food bags will be distributed on Saturday,
March 21, 2009 through Wednesday, March 25, 2009.
The bags will be picked up on Saturday, March 28th
and taken to a collection site. At the collection site
you will be checked in by Pack or Troop and asked how
many boys and adults participated and have your food
weighed or counted. Plan ahead and make sure you are
represented at the January and February roundtables.
This is an event that all units are expected to participate.

2009 Friends of Scouting Campaign For Boy
Scout Troops
If you Troop is conducting a Court of Honor this fall,
the district would like to make a Friends of Scouting
Presentation. Most Troops have a Court of Honor in the
fall and late spring. Fall Presentations allow contributors
a full year to fulfill their pledge. Please let us know
when your Court of Honor is. E-mail John Schlobohm at
john.schlobohm@scouting.org.
Refund and Transfer Policy
A written request with a brief explanation for the
cancellation must be sent to the Tall Pine Council Service
Center. The request should be received by the Service
Center at least 3 weeks prior to the camp, activity,
or event start date. A 10 percent (minimum $5.00) administration
fee will be withheld from the refund. Refund requests
received after the camp, activity, or event will be
denied (extentuating circumstances may be the only exception).
Transferring fees from one person to another is permissible
before the event. The Tall Pine Council should be notified
in writing of all transfers. This cancellation / refund
policy was effective January 1, 1998, and supercedes
any prior cancellation / refund policy of the Tall Pine
Council, BSA.
