- RISING STAR AWARD
Vote for the male and female Scouter who best exemplifies the characteristic of the Rising Star Award.
Qualifications: These awards are presented to the one male and one female who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and characteristics in the Scouting program over the last twelve months. These individuals must be selected on their commitment to deliver the Scoutinhg program to the best of their ability, and most importantly, show promise as one of the best volunteers in Shiawassee District for the up-coming years.
All votes are due in the District office no later than Fri, February 3, 2012. Please feel free to let all of your unit registered members. Only one vote per person.

- UNIT LEADERSHIP AWARD
Vote for the Scouter who best exemplifies the character of the Unit Leadership Award.
Qualifications: This award is presented to one individual who received highest recommendations to the current Appreciation Dinner Committee for providing noteworthy service of exceptional character to the Boy Scouts of America for the past 12 months in Shiawassee District on the unit level. This award will exemplify the efforts and sacrifices shown by this individual in relationship to the boys in his or her unit. The Appreciation Dinner Committee felt it important to recognize the valuable services of the people who work with the youth on a regular one-on-one personal basis; for, indeed, it is the unit leaders that keep the program going, creating fun and fostering education as well as the values of Scouting. It is no small task, and we wish to honor them with this award.

- 110% AWARD
Vote for the Scouter who best exemplifies the character of the 110% Award.
Qualifications: This award is presented to the one individual who has received recommendations to the current Appreciation Dinner Committee for providing noteworthy service of exceptional character to the Boy Scouts of America program for the past 12 months in this county. This award will exemplify the efforts and sacrifices that this individual has dedicated to the betterment of young boys and volunteers.
All votes are due no later than Friday, February 3, 2012. Please feel free to write your vote in today. All of your unit registered members may vote. Only one vote per person.

If you have not picked up your information yet, please stop by the Scout Service Center or contact Kristy at 810-235-8895 so she can drop your paperwork off for your unit.
Please be sure to complete your paperwork and turn it in EARLY so your Scouts are not delayed in advancements or summer camp registrations.
All Shiawassee registered charter representatives and district committee members are invited to attend the Shiawassee Annual Meeting.
The meeting will be held February 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Baker College Welcome Center, Room A, M-52, Owosso.
Our district winter event for Boy Scouts is coming up quickly, so make sure you register your Scouts soon!
Activities at this Scout-skills themed event will include first aid, fire building, lifesaving skills and more!
Indoor sleeping & dining facilities will be available, but brave souls can camp outdoors if they wish.
When: February 17-19, 2012

Cost: $16 indoors, $10 outdoors

The Shiawassee District Recognition Dinner is fast approaching! The dinner is a time to acknowledge the accomplishments of our volunteer leaders and our Eagle Scouts and Venturing Silver Recipients.
Join us for fun, fellowship and a message from Area President Craig Younkman. The MC for the dinner will be Council Board member Michael J. Thorp.
When: Saturday, March 10, 2012
What Time: Dinner at 6:00 pm, Program at 7:00 pm (doors will open at 5:30 pm)
Where: Durand First United Methodist Church, 10016 E. Newburg Rd., Durand
Cost: $8 per person by March 2; $10 per person after that
Registration: Sign up at Roundtable. Registration form is forthcoming.
Please note that this year’s dinner will be held potluck-style; check with your unit committee chair for your side dish assignment.
When: Second Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM
Where: Corunna United Methodist Church, 200 W. McArthur St., Corunna
Who: ALL registered unit leaders
What: Receive planning help for your next unit meeting, including program tips and suggested activities. This is a great place to hear announcements for upcoming district and council events or to turn in new member applications, money-earning applications, recharter information, and more to Kristy.

A written request
with a brief explanation for the cancellation
must be sent to the Tall Pine Council Service
Center. The request should be received by the
Service Center at least 3 weeks prior to the camp,
activity, or event start date. A 10 percent (minimum
$5.00) administration fee will be withheld from
the refund. Refund requests received after the
camp, activity, or event will be denied (extentuating
circumstances may be the only exception). Transferring
fees from one person to another is permissible
before the event. The Tall Pine Council should
be notified in writing of all transfers. This
cancellation / refund policy was effective January
1, 1998, and supercedes any prior cancellation
/ refund policy of the Tall Pine Council, BSA.
The
