National Youth Leadership Training
Camp Holaka
June 14-19, 2009
What is NYLT?
NYLT is a week long outdoor experience for current
and future troop leaders, utilizing the patrol method.
It presents the eleven leadership skills in multiple
formats providing the opportunity for participants to
live and practice these leadership skills. Virtually
all of the training is conducted by the youth staff.
The course follows the National BSA National Youth Leadership
Training curriculum.
Who can attend?
NYLT is for you if you’re a boy who can answer
YES to ALL of the following:
- You’ll be 13 years old by June 14, 2009;
- You will not be 18 years old before June 19, 2009;
- You’ll be at least a First Class Scout by
June 14, 2009;
- You now hold or intend to hold a troop leadership position;
- You are mature enough and responsible enough to
spend an entire week camping with other scouts you’ve
never met, with minimal adult supervision, and always
live the Scout Oath & Law;
- You agree to practice the skills you learn at NYLT when you return
to your home troop; AND,
- Your parents and Scoutmaster agree and recommend you.

within scouting, in school and later in life.
- Your regular troop job will become more fun
- You’ll make new friends
- You’ll get to practice, teach or show off your Leadership
skills and learn new skills
- You’ll have fun
Why should you send Scouts to this course [for Scoutmasters]?
- We provide intensive leadership training in a controlled environment
that would be difficult for you to reproduce;
- Trained leaders make your job easier;
- Trained leaders make Scouting more fun for the rest
of your troop members; AND,
- You’ll be invited to our closing feast.
